At 16:00 on Friday 9th March, at a low key event in Bushes Bar, Baltimore, the new Tamar lifeboat Alan Massey was commissioned into service.  The commissioning of the new lifeboat follows an intense period of training since the Alan Massey arrived in Baltimore on February 15th. Training support from RNLI personnel was invaluable and thanks to Helena, Martin, Michael and Owen for their support.

Coastguard services were notified of this new rescue resource. The next time the bleepers go off, the lifeboat crew will be assembling to board the Alan Massey, which is currently lying at moorings pending the development of a berth for her adjacent to the station house. In the meantime the Hilda Jarrett will remain in the station house for a short time longer. She is destined for the lifeboat relief fleet based in Poole. It is anticipated that she will make her final slip launch on Sunday 18th March. Confirmation of a date and time will be posted here closer to the time subject to weather & tides etc.
