Both lifeboats were out again today to join in the search & recovery operation at Glandore.
The all weather lifeboat arrived on scene at 08:20 and initially did a circuit of Adams Island. Then crossing over to Goat Head commenced a search of the East side of the Harbour and worked her way back out of the Harbour on the West shore. Later the ALB went to High Island and searched eastwards taking in the mouth of Castlehaven, Skiddys Island, Blind Harbour & Squince. The ILB searched in tandem covering the areas inaccessible to the larger lifeboat. Thereafter the ALB was tasked with a 3 hour box search of a large offshore area stretching west to Stag Sound South of Castlehaven. Another shore search was conducted eastward to Adams Island. Light was failing at this stage so both lifeboats were instructed to proceed towards Baltimore searching as they went. Weather conditions in exposed areas were difficult in a moderate South Easterly swell with the wind veering southerly and freshening as the day progressed. No trace of the missing fishermen was found.

Crews today were

All weather lifeboat Hilda Jarrett
Coxswain Aidan Bushe, Jerry Smith, Don O’Donovan, Sean McCarthy, Eoin Ryan & Simon Duggan

Inshore lifeboat Bessie
Morning: Helm John Kearney, Ronan Callanan & Tadhg Collins
Afternoon: Helm Kieran Collins, Jason Pavry & John McDonagh
