The last seven days have proved to be a busy time for Baltimore Lifeboats, with six callouts during the period. Baltimore all-weather lifeboat was called upon four times, to perform services that included, a MEDIVAC from Sherkin Island when a youth suffered injuries from a fall, to assist yachts in difficulty at Crookhaven in strong westerly winds, also to a yacht in difficulty off the pier at Baltimore harbour in near gale force NW winds, and to a yacht that was caught up in a pot bouy and line off Baltimore Harbour. Baltimore inshore lifeboat (ILB) was launched twice in the same week, to assist a yacht that was in difficulty in fresh weather conditions at the entrance to Baltimore harbour, and also to go to the assistance of a yacht that had its rudder entangled on another yachts anchor line, causing both yachts to be banging helplessly off of each other in very fresh westerly winds.
The weather is poor for the first half of this week with strong winds and big seas being forecasted. So please remain safe and vigilant, whether at sea or along the shoreline. If you require help dial 999 or 112 and ask for COASTGUARD.
