Tomorrow Sunday 21st at 11am Baltimore lifeboat will rendevous with the Cape Clear ferry Dún an óir in Baltimore harbour to undertake a scenario based exercise. With the ferries heading into their busy season, training like this is valuable to both the lifeboat crew and ferry crew. It will help them develope their knowledge, skills and confidence to be able to deal with the events that everyone hopes will never happen. Thanks to the crew, managment and staff of the Cape Clear ferry for their time and help.

RNLI Divisional Inspector Martyn Smyth and RNLI Trustee Peter Crowley had accompanied Mr Boissier in participating in a lifeboat exercise with the all weather Tyne class lifeboat, Hilda Jarrett, under the command of coxswain Kieran Cotter.

Whilst on manoeuvres, Mr Boissier was transferred to, Bessie, an Atlantic 75 inshore lifeboat, which proved its superior speed by whisking him off to the Fastnet Lighthouse.

Fortunately weather conditions were favourable for the exercise, and the Fastnet Lighthouse was impressive in the relatively calm waters prevailing at the time.

Mr Boissier later commented on the challenging coastline and waters in which the Baltimore lifeboats operate. He complimented the local team on the worldclass service being provided through volunteer efforts.
