A busy bank holiday weekend required the attention of Baltimore Lifeboat in two separate incidents. The first alarm was raised at 19:15 when it was reported that a yacht was in difficulty near Ballydehob. Helm Micheal Cottrell with crew Ronan Callanan and Diarmuid Collins in the Inshore Lifeboat
Bessie launched within minutes to give attention. On arrival n Ballydehob estuary it transpired that no assistance was needed as a family party was able to provide mutual support.
Almost two hours later at 21:51 the coastguard issued a call for assistance when two kayakers were reported missing from Rosscarbery. Both the ILB and the ALB were launched to investigate. The search took the lifeboats along the shoreline at Glandore Harbour and Union Hall,

At 00:30 on Sunday morning 5th August shouts were heard from a cave near Millcove. ILB Helm John Kearney investigated and found two 17 year old males who had taken shelter in the cave. A smaller Y boat was launched from the all weather lifeboat Alan Massey which ferried the boys individually from the cave and then onto the inshore lifeboat which landed the teenagers at Mill Cove.

On board the all weather lifeboat were Coxswain Kieran Cotter with Crew Pat Collins, Ronnie Carthy, Brendan Cottrell, Sean McCarthy & Ger Sheehy.
