Medical Evacuation in Church Strand

A 3 masted barque called for assistance after a middle aged woman sustained leg injuries following a fall. A local GP went aboard and assessed injuries calling for immediate medical evacuation. The boat was anchored in Church Strand 50 m from the Lifeboat Station House. Coxswain Kieran Cotter went alongside the barque and transferred the patient to the lifeboat and from there to the lifeboat station from where an ambulance took the injured woman to Cork University Hospital.
