RNLI Baltimore all weather lifeboat assists fire fighting efforts on Cape Clear Island

On Friday 18th March, a fire burning on Cape Clear Island prompted a call to the local Skibbereen based fire service. Two fire crews made their way to the pier on Baltimore Harbour to board the all weather lifeboat Hilda Jarrett.

The lifeboat left the Harbour at 17.58 and arrived at North Harbour, Cape Clear Island at 18.25. On arrival the 6 fire crew went ashore to the East side of South Harbour. Once the fire was no longer a threat, the fire fighters boarded the lifeboat at 20.10 and arrived back at Baltimore Pier at 20.44. The Hilda Jarrett was then returned to the station at Bull Point for cleaning and refueling by the volunteer crew ; coxswain Kieran Cotter, Cathal Cotrell, Aidan Bushe, Anthony Sheehy, Ronan Callanan and slip crew, Jerry Smith, Rianne Smith, Paul Synnott and Kate Callanan
