Lifeboat in search and rescue operation for missing fisherman

Coxswain Ciaran Cotter and his crew of 6, launched the Baltimore lifeboat to respond to a distress call. The “Hilda Jarrett” was launched at 7:45pm in poor weather conditions. A local fishing boat had been sighted South of Goat Island in Roaring Water Bay earlier that day and the lifeboat has found the wreckage of the boat there this evening. There was no sign of life on board or nearby. The helicopter was called out to assist the lifeboat in the search and rescue for the only person on board, but had to return to base as darkness fell. It is likely that the search will be called off soon and will resume again at first light.
