Lifeboat rescues two men from sinking boat

Two men were rescued from the water after their 20ft vessel with 70hp engine sank without trace off Glandore harbour on Sunday evening. The men who were wearing life-jackets were picked up by a local vessel just as the new Severn class Castletownbere lifeboat, Annette Hutton, arrived on the scene. The Annette Hutton was on her maiden voyage from Poole in Dorset, UK to Castletownbere and had stopped in en route in Baltimore Harbour when the alarm was raised by Valentia Coastguard at 20:05. The Tyne class Baltimore Lifeboat, Hilda Jarrett, had also been in the harbour and responded to the distress call.
