Baltimore Lifeboat in search for vessel adrift near Spanish Island


Valentia Coastguard tasked the Baltimore Lifeboat to respond to a distress call from a vessel adrift at 18:16 today. Hilda Jarrett, the Tyne class all-weather lifeboat was launched at 18:18.

The 16 ft vessel had run out of petrol and was without an anchor. She had three crew on board and was drifting North of Spanish Island. When the Lifeboat arrived on scene the casualty had been taken in tow by a RIB. The Lifeboat escorted the RIB and the stricken vessel back to Baltimore Harbour. The Lifeboat then returned to station and was made ready for service again at 19:10.
