Baltimore Lifeboat in Castletownshend search and rescue operation


The Baltimore Lifeboat, “Hilda Jarrett”, was launched on Thursday 27th October in severe weather conditions. The lifeboat was launched at 14:20 in a Force 7 Southerly wind and with a 4 metre swell running. Valentia Coastguard had tasked the lifeboat to go the assistance of two people on a 22ft boat reported in difficulty at the mouth of Castletownshend Harbour. Toe Head Coastguard were also alerted and being the nearest service were able to secure the safety of the crew. The Baltimore Lifeboat was stood down as they reached the Stags and then returned to base. Crew for the operation were: Coxswain - Kieran Cotter, Mechanic – Pat Collins, Anthony Sheehy, Aidan Bushe, Ronnie Carthy, Simon Duggan and Frank Leguypil.
