Baltimore Lifeboat assists wooden sailing boat aground on rocks

The Baltimore Lifeboat, “Hilda Jarrett”, was launched in fine weather this evening, Sunday, 28 May 2006. An alert was raised when a 24ft wooden sailing boat went aground on Frolic rock between Cunnamore and Heir Island. There was one crew on board the vessel who was uninjured. As the tide was falling, the lifeboat pulled her off the rock and the boat was able to make her way to her moorings at Rossbrin unassisted.

The lifeboat was returned to base at 22:10 and made ready for the next call.

Crew for the operation were: Coxswain – Kieran Cotter, Mechanic – Micheal Cottrell, Brendan Cottrell, Jerry Smith, Brian McSweeney, Torsten Marten.
