Baltimore Lifeboat tows Sailing Boat to safety

A 60ft motor sailing yacht was rescued from imminent danger off the Kedge rocks a mile East of Baltimore harbour today. The yacht “Eabora” had set sail from Crosshaven in clement weather conditions, when she fouled her prop on a pot bouy half a mile west of Kedge Island. They alerted Valencia Coastguard who tasked the Baltimore Lifeboat “Hilda Jarrett” to come to her assistance. The lifeboat was launched at 17:02 and when she reached the stricken vessel, the prevailing winds had blown her within 100 yards of the Kedge.

The lifeboat crew secured a line aboard the “Eabora” and proceeded to tow her to the safety of Baltimore Harbour. The two Jersey based crew did not suffer any injury and the yacht itself was undamaged.

The lifeboat returned to base and was made ready for the next service at 18:19.

Crew on service were: Coxwain - Aidan Bushe, Mechanic - Cathal Cottrell, Micheal Cottrell, Ronnie McCarthy & Jerry Smith
