Island Medical Evacuation

At 01:45 on Tuesday 2nd January, the RNLI Lifeboat Hilda Jarrett was launched to carry out a medical evacuation from Cape Clear Island. The alert was made by Valentia Coast Guard and the Baltimore crew responded immediately heading to sea in Gale Force 8 winds and a swell that reached between four and five metres. The Coxswain, Kieran Cotter, helmed the lifeboat to North Harbour on Cape Clear Island where a woman experiencing chest pains was awaiting their arrival.

The woman was taken aboard and carried her to Baltimore Harbour where a private car met her and brought her to South Doc.
The lifeboat was returned to station at 02:55, and made ready for the next service. Lifeboat Crew: Coxswain - Kieran Cotter, Mechanic - Cathal Cottrell, Jerry Smith, Pat Collins, Don Donovan, Paul O’Driscoll and Sean McCarthy
