Motor Yacht taking Water near Long Island

While the Baltimore Seafood Festival and Wooden Boat festival were in full swing, on Saturday evening 26th May, the maroons were fired to call the lifeboat crew to assist a 22ft motor boat which was taking water and in danger of sinking in Long Island Sound just south of Gun Point.

The lifeboat was launched and proceeded toward Long Island across Roaring Water bay. The lifeboat coxswain communicated with the vessel and advised that the safest option was to beach their vessel on the strand on the North side of Long Island. This was achieved successfully and the crew of the motor launch were no longer in danger.

The Coastguard then stood down the lifeboat as no further assistance was required.
