Lifeboat in search and rescue operation for angling boat lost in fog

The RNLI all weather lifeboat Hilda Jarrett was tasked by Valencia Coastguard at 20:45 to go to the assistance of a vessel lost in fog. The small angling boat with one person on board had become lost in dense fog near Heir Island, in Roaringwater Bay, West Cork.

Coxswain Kieran Cotter and his crew carried out a search in dense fog West of Heir Island and succeeded in quickly locating the stricken vessel. The single occupant of the leisure angling boat had not sustained injury and the lifeboat towed her back to Cunnamore Pier before returning to Baltimore Harbour.

On board the Baltimore lifeboat, for this service were Coxwain – Kieran Cotter, Mechanic Jerry Smith, Crewmembers Brendan Cottrell, Pat Collins, Eoin Ryan, Torsten Marten & Ronnie Carthy Slip crew ; Rianne Smith, & Kate Callanan
