Baltimore Inshore Lifeboat in False Alarm Flare Alert

The RNLI inshore lifeboat, Bessie, was requested by Valencia Coastguard to go to conduct a search when two unrelated sightings of flares near Turk Head were reported.

The inshore lifeboat, an Atlantic 75, was launched shortly after the bleeper alert at 00:54 on Saturday morning. Helm Youen Jacob with crew, Kieran Collins and Ronan Callanan, proceeded in calm weather to conduct a search pattern in the vicinity of Heir Island Pier, Turk Head and Inane Point. After over an hour of searching without anything being found, the crew were stood down. They returned to Baltimore Harbour, where Bessie was rehoused at the RNLI compound on the pier.
