Lifeboats tows motor boat adrift off Castlehead

A 30ft motor boat with 2 people on board experienced engine failure this afternoon. The boat was near Castle Head at the time of the incident. Coxswain Kieran Cotter set out on the all weather lifeboat Alan Massey at 13:09. The lifeboat arrived on scene at 14:11 at which time the motor boat was drifting, anchor at the ready. The vessel was put in tow at 14:11 and brought to the safety of Baltimore in excellent weather conditions. The motorboat was secured alongside the pier at 17:05. The lifeboat then returned to the station at Bull Point and made ready again for service by 18:00.
